If you are new to sewing and embroidery, you might be enthusiastic about finding a machine with which you can master your skills. There are many beginner-friendly machines, but having two separate machines can be a pretty hefty investment.

Brother has come up with a versatile machine that works for both sewing and embroidery—the Brother SE600 2-in-1 sewing & embroidery machine

Let's learn all about this multi-functional machine, like its amazing features and more!

Inside the Brother SE600 2-in-1 Sewing & Embroidery Machine Box

The Brother SE600 has tons of parts and inclusions that make it stand out among the rest of the machines. Here's what you will find in the Brother SE600 2-in-1 machine box:

  • Brother SE600 Machine Unit
  • 7 Versatile Sewing Feet
  • One Embroidery Foot
  • 4" x 4" Embroidery Hoop
  • Embroidery Arm
  • Sewing and Embroidery Pouch with two bobbins, three pre-wound bobbins with embroidery thread, 6-piece needle set, twin needles, a seam ripper, three bobbin clips, a pair of scissors, disc-shaped screwdriver, cleaning brush, spool net, spool caps, extra spool spin, and an eyelet punch
  • Dust Cover
  • Instruction Manual

What Types of Presser Feet Come With the Brother SE600?

Brother includes seven versatile sewing feet for their sewing machine and an embroidery foot for the embroidery attachment.

  • Zigzag Foot: Used for straight stitches to zigzag stitches.
  • Monogramming Foot: Also referred to as "N"; it is used to make wider, more decorative stitches.
  • Buttonhole Foot: Used to make a hole for your buttons, such as in shirts.
  • Overcasting Foot: Used to avoid edges from unraveling and sew overcast seams.
  • Blind Stitch Foot: Used to make perfect topstitches and create blind hems on pants and curtains to avoid stitches from being seen.
  • Zipper Foot: Used for stitching zippers into the fabric, preventing you from sewing into the zipper teeth and allowing you to sew very close to the edge of the fabric.
  • Button Foot: Aside from buttons, you can use this foot to put ribbons, sew-on hook and eye closures, and track trims in place.
  • Embroidery Foot: Used mainly for embroidery and monogramming.

Other presser feet exist, such as the spring action quilting foot, ¼" piecing foot, or walking foot for quilters. But you need to buy these feet separately.

Features of Brother SE600 Embroidery Sewing Machine

Brother SE600 Embroidery Machine

The Brother SE600 features functions for both sewists and embroiderers alike. What's interesting about this machine is that it's digitized and powered by electricity, saving you from manual labor. Here are other cool features of the SE600:

Sew Smart Color LCD Touchscreen

Remember how you used to make your embroidery pattern on the spot? With the Brother SE600, you can edit your patterns and preview your designs using their colored LCD display.

You don't have to double-check what thread color comes next because it also tells you when to change threads. For tech-savvy sewing and embroidery hobbyists, you won't want to go back to old machines once you get this.

9 Embroidery Fonts and 80 Built-in Designs

With just a flash drive on hand, you can download designs on your computer and upload them to your machine. If 80 designs and eight fonts aren't enough for you, you can find more online.

Just be sure to put the design format to .pes before inserting your flash drive into your SE600, or else your machine won't read it.

Built-In LED-Light

If you want to work on your sewing or embroidery at night, the Brother SE600 has your back. The LED light, located at the bottom of the machine arm, automatically turns on when you press Start. This feature helps you work with dark fabrics and complex designs and avoid straining your eyes.

103 Stitch Options

In reality, you'll probably be using half of these stitches for your sewing. However, it is nice to try and learn some decorative sewing techniques for your fabric, such as waves, stars, and even decorative scrolls.

Automatic Needle Threader

We know the frustration you get when you have to thread your needle every time you need to change colors, but this machine does the job for you. With just a simple press of a lever, you can thread your needle.

Built-In Steps on Display

Aside from the instruction guide on paper, it has tutorials on display. Nothing beats visual demonstration to master the machine.

25-Year Limited Warranty

If the features mentioned above aren't convincing you to get this machine, their warranty will. Imagine 25 years of having a safety net for the Brother SE600 plus free technical support for life. This SE600 embroidery machine is worth spending on.

Brother SE600 Machine Highlights

This all-in-one machine is the best choice for your small-scale projects for plenty of reasons.

  • Excellent 2-in-1 Feature: Whether you're embroidering a cute pattern on your shirt or stitching the hem of your pants, the Brother SE600 has the features and capabilities to do the job effectively.

With its 80 embroidery designs available online and 103 different built-in stitches, it is fair to say that the Brother SE600 is flexible to do any sewing or embroidery task.

  • Quiet and Smooth Operation: Most machines create a lot of metal noises, but the Brother SE600 doesn't despite its heavy-duty body. The machine makes more sounds at higher speeds, but it's bearable compared to its other bigger versions.

The variety of presser feet and expandable free arm allow you to work on various clothing such as cuffs with ease.

  • Powerful Embroidery and Quality Stitching: The automatic threading feature, the built-in patterns, and impressive sitch quality will sew through thin and heavier fabrics. As long as you check the manual for proper setting instructions, you can sew any design on cotton canvas and on more delicate and stretchy fabrics.

Brother SE600 Machine Lowlights

If we wanted to nitpick what we don't like about the Brother SE600, it would be the speed. It doesn't sew as fast as industrial machines, but it's not designed for mass production, so we're not heavily fussed on this matter. Other drawbacks Brother should work on are:

  • Embroidery Software Not Included: The Brother may have built-in embroidery designs you can choose from, but if you want to create your designs, you would have to buy embroidery software. It's not a big deal to some, but it is an added cost.
  • Not a Multi-Thread Machine: The Brother may have solved the threading issue, but changing the color of your threads is still cumbersome.

Before You Get Started On Your Brother SE600 Machine

When you order this machine, you need these accessories to start your sewing or embroidery completely. Aside from the obvious fabric and extra threads, you need to consider buying these tools:

  • Stabilizer: This embroidery accessory is used to put your embroidery design in place and prevent the fabric from puckering away.
  • Flash Drive: Since this is a computerized sewing machine, you need this device for transferring designs from your computer to the SE600 machine, similar to the Brother SE1900 Machine

Final Thoughts

The Brother SE600 machine is a game-changer for beginner and professional sewists and embroidery enthusiasts. Everything is designed for easier sewing, faster embroidery, and, most of all, quality results.

You don't need to buy two machines. With the Brother SE600, you can do both hobbies on just one machine.
